Fire crews halt evening Ukiah wildfire sparked by burning mobile home
A wildfire in the steep, forested hills just west of Ukiah was stopped by quick action from fire crews Tuesday night, though pockets of fire continued to burn. The blaze began when a house trailer along Low Gap Road caught fire and spread into nearby vegetation. The trailer was reported to be a total loss.
Scanner traffic, Nixle, and Watch Duty placed the incident in the 3400 block of Low Gap Road, with the first response arriving shortly after 9 p.m. By 10 p.m., crews reported the fire had been surrounded, with less than 0.2 acre burned, and were working hot spots.
No injuries were reported in the mobile‑home fire. A second trailer was threatened but did not burn.
A fast stop this time. Stay alert, stay safe — fire season is only beginning.
