Mendocinocoast.news investigated scanner reports about a shooting on Robin Road in Fort Bragg that was broadcast. There were reports on the scanner for about two hours. Mendocinocoast.news does not report on scanner talk until we can confirm what actually happened with authorities.
We asked Quincy Cromer of the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department and he provided us the following.
On 12/17/2025 at approximately 9 P.M., the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 30000 block of Robin Road in Fort Bragg, CA, for a reported shooting in the area. (Robin Road is off Simpson Lane Franklin Road and Turner Road)
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene and began canvassing the area on foot. The Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received additional information that someone was hiding behind a shed after the incident and another subject was still armed and inside a nearby house. Deputies made announcements and ordered the person in the house to exit the residence, but received no response.
Sheriff’s Dispatchers instructed the person hiding behind the shed to walk towards the deputies and they were able to obtain additional information from the reporting party. Additional law enforcement personnel arrived to assist, and they were able to contact the other involved subject in the residence on the phone. The subject agreed to exit the residence and was detained in handcuffs.
During their continuing investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies searched the residence and scene for evidence related to this investigation. Deputies located 2 handguns which were secured and booked. Deputies did not locate any expended shell casings, bullet holes, or other evidence of a firearm being discharged at the scene. Due to the statements provided by the involved parties and conflicting evidence located by law enforcement, Deputies were unable to determine if a crime occurred. At this stage of the investigation, no arrests have been made, and the incident is continuing to be investigated.
Anyone with information related to this investigation is requested to contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 707-463-4086 (option 1).
