This is the first installation of Yard Sale Fun on the Coast, from Albion to Westport. If people like it and send stuff, I could do more. There is a list here you can follow from south to North, with directions. Please send any more you sales you find out there and we welcome photos and stories of the cool stuff you found.

 I also have a Memorial Day piece in the works. Please send any hero stories you know about people from the Mendo Coast who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Memorial Day is a big weekend for Garage Sales every year..  It beats Labor Day, which has been number two for several years.

Garage sales are fun, but many are such a waste of time, any money you might save is lost on gas and time. I hope to get some reports from the field and give you some tips. If you want more exposure for your future sale send us the details for publication. We’d love to make this a regular feature.

Many people dont like what I want- really old and unusual stuff.   I’d like to get reviewers to SEND PHOTOS..

Another thing- please don’t just post the name of some random street.  PUT IN THE CITY and DIRECTIONS for Pete’s sakes

And send me your finds and treasures and if people do that, Ill have a summer column about yard sales.

The list starts 1. 5 miles south of Mendo Town and goes North, one by one.  There are bound to be many signs. I have found that people who dont advertise though, dont have good sales.

Oh and do not forget the historical book sale. Sunday from 10 am to 3pm at the Kelly House Museum located at 45007 Albion Street in Mendocino. The mission of Kelley House Museum is to collect, preserve, protect and share the rich history of the Mendocino Coast. Come support them they do great work.

1. GORDON LANE sale

First pass Spring Ranch and turn east on Gordon Lane.  If you get to the Glampground, you have gone too far.

Here are the details of the INTERESTING GORDON LANE SALE

9:30 am – 5:30 p  Saturday, Sunday.    Location:  In the Meadow.  Turn off on

Gordon Lane east from Hwy 1 about a mile south of Big River Bridge, Turn LEFT onto

Hwy 1 frontage road –(an immediate left turn after exiting from Hwy–watch

for vehicles coming down Gordon Lane!).  Proceed northbound on the frontage

road a very short distance to “Private Drive”.  Park along frontage road

Here is what they have at Gordon Lane…

“vintage clothing and jewelry, Bangra drum, set of Tabla drums and case,

prayer rug, household items, furniture- small tables, round oak table (not

claw footed), Drive brand manual wheelchair good condition, round

eucalyptus wood collapsible outdoor table (top needs sanding or paint);

carved Chinese cedar chest, dehumidifier, air purifier”

2. MOST RECOMMENDED SALE … CUMMINGS LANE UP LITLE LAKE– the photo is theirs.

I rarely miss a Ronalie and Clarence sale. They host one about every two weeks.  Theirs are the best, most organized and have reasonable prices. NOT FRIDAtY. These are  SAT and SUNDAY

This one is on Cummings lane up Little Lake in Mendo on the north side of LL. Looking at the pics this is not one of the better sales, but still worth it for the prices and usefulness factors. 

Next Stop….BIG BOOK SALE at the Mendocino Community Library on Saturday, May 24th, from 10:00AM until 3:00 PM.  New and old, fiction and nonfiction, mystery and crime, romances, children’s books, DVD’s, coffee table books, puzzles, and collectors’ items.  Bag of books for $5 after 2:00 pm.  Corner of William and Little Lake Streets in Mendocino. This sale is big! (and so are some of the books)!  DON’T MISS IT!

3. Next you come to the simpson Lane roundabout. If you want this sale below, go east about 2.5 miles on Simpson and this road is on the LEFT across from Hills o Home

There is something at Hare Creek Auto, which is just south of Hare Creek Bridge…

New location for the roundabout flea market – Hare Creek Auto, at least for this weekend! Got a good friend there doing a moving sale. Fort Bragg

4. .  Then go east on Highway 20 ONE DAY SATURDAY SALE- up hwy 20

19501 Noyo Acres for Bragg, Sat till 3.  Noyo acres is just before Hwy 20 Feed on the left as you go out of town on Hwy 20 toward willits.

5. Next is the FB library book sale, its on Laurel Street on Saturday.  Get Laurel off Main, by town haul and go east.

6. Keep going up Laurel and cross Harold till you see morrow, go south and you will come to Fern Ave, which has a sale with no directions. The street if 70 feet long. 

7. Then, go around the corner on Morrow and north on Cedar….

1244 Cedar  9-3 Saturday and till noon Sunday. This is just up past Otis Johnson Park. You go by what used to be Colombi’s market and head toward the Middle School and turn east on Cedar.  This one says lots of New Stuff, so Ill skip it, but if good, please send me a report and pictures and Ill update.

8. Beware the parking at this sale… off Pudding Creek

There is a a sale at 21400 Garbini with unknown stuff. This is a very narrow road off Pudding Creek and Past John Hyman. Its on the right. VERY narrow lane. I highly advise parking somewhere else or dropping somebody off for a look. 

9. This one  sounds good also off Pudding Creek….MIght be over early though.  This sale is about ½ mile up Pudding Creek. At the bottom of the hill you find Petaluma Ave on the left (and perhaps right)

This one  happens every year on Memorial Day.

Sat. May 24at 9am-? At 22002 N. Petaluma Ave. off of Pudding Creek Rd. On Fort Bragg Ca. Come and find your treasures!

10 The next sale is off Airport Road, go east and its right there on the left after Caltrans.

11. Off ODOM

Rhododendron and Azalea sale! Volunteers from Noyo ARS will be assisting Nodja Jones to sell a wide variety of Rhododendrons and Azaleas this weekend.

Please join us Friday 12-4 or Saturday 10-3 at 32117 Forest Lane Fort Bragg.  This is another hard to find address. Its up Odom Lane, bearing left at the split. 

12. Next there is on O’BAyley, this is directly across the highway from the Mackerricher entrance and where the Purple Rose use to be. If you come to the Cleone Store you went to far. 

Turn RIGHT on Mill Creek, pass the trailer court and then its on the left.

13, Last is one across from Ward Avenue. its an often sale with new stuff.

Other events- a Mendocino Indivisible   protest south of Town Hall on Highway  11 am

If you havent done the LIONS CLUB ESCAPE ROOM, this weekend is the time!! ON Redwood Drive, which is what intersects Highway 1 on the south end of the Company store.
